I just flew back home and the first thing I told everyone about was a place I ate at called Fat Matt’s! I am from Delaware and had the pleasure of eating at Fat Matt’s this weekend. WOW! I have never had southern food before, but not only was the food THE BEST!, but the gentlemen who worked there made me and my family feel so welcomed.  Now every time I come down to visit Fat Matt’s will always get a visit from me, thanks for the great memories! Can’t wait to come and hear some great Jazz music!

I am a California native who had only ever heard stories of great
southern BBQ. But then... On a trip out to GA a couple if years ago
with my boyfriend (whose family lives in GA-Go Dawgs!)a friend
recommended your place for us to go knowing I really wanted to know
what all the fuss was over the BBQ. Well let's just say after one bite
of your food, it was crystal clear!!! I savored every single bite and
the sauce was soooo gooood. I can only talk about your food and I
crave it, but nowhere around here is any BBQ even remotely at
delicious as yours!! I will be back one day! Thank you for the awesome
memories.

Fat Matt’s hits the trifecta – great BBQ, amazing live blues music, and an authentic atmosphere.  The ribs are truly mouth-watering and have that perfect carmelized exterior.  It’s one of Atlanta’s “can’t miss” places!

We "harvested" a perfect 80 pound wild pig on our place on Hird Island, just
off the coast of Darien, Ga. Slow cooked with mesquite and slathered in Fat
Matt's BBQ sauce made for the best eatin' around. Wild pig and Fat Matt's
were made for each other!!

Last Fall we enjoyed an evening at Fat Matts. We discovered it purely by
accident when we took a wrong turn. Turned out to be the "right" turn.
The ribs were absolutely fantastic then a live band showed up to finish
off our evening. I wish I lived closer...
Thanks so much.

For the two years I lived in Hotlanta, I searched for good eats.  How I missed this gem, I don’t know.  I only found out about Fat Matt’s from a friend who told me about it 2 weeks before I moved. It is absolutely the best darned ribs I have ever had!  I missed out those two years!!!  Now, every time I visit, or even just drive through Atlanta, I insist on making a pilgrimage to Fat Matt’s.  A slab of ribs and a jar of sauce to go to (hopefully) hold me over until I can get back again! Thanks!

What Up Fat Matt, let me start like this...I'M FROM ALABAMA AND I
THOUGHT I KNEW GOOD BARBEQUE UNTIL I WAS INTRODUCED TO THIS BIG
CITY/SMALL TOWN FEELING BBQ PLACE CALLED "FAT MATT'S". My girlfriend,
my lil girl and I was in search of some good BBQ the day after Memorial
Day 07 and we found out why they call it FAT MATTS (you can measure the
name in pounds). The outside eating area is great and makes you feel
right at home. When I got home that night, I just so happen to see Fat
Matt's on the Food Network Rachael Ray's Tasty Travels, now that's my 3
favorite R's...Ribs & Rachael Ray. When my family and friends come
visit, FM's will be my first stop and I haven't tried the Chicken and
Fish next door but if it's anything like the ribs, baked beans, and
CHOPPED SANDWICHES...they will move up to the top of my list also. IT'S
ALL IN THE SAUCE and Thanks Again for helping me find my new favorite
BBQ joint.

To those who will visit Atlanta (the best city in the world!)!
This is definitely the place to go! My favourite place to get most of the food as well as music and not to forget the beer!

WOW! Great Ribs, Cold Beer and Blues? Where Do I Sign UP??!!??

Three of us from Connecticut visited Atlanta just this past weekend and on Friday night in our search for authentic southern BBQ, we found ourselves at Fat Matt’s. Our hopes were raised when we saw the line wrap around the building, though we thought we’d be in for quite a wait. But, we also figured that with a line that long, it had to be worth it! A short time later we were sucking on bones and licking our fingers for every last bit….All I can say is that these were THE BEST ribs we have ever had….And we’ve had A LOT…from just about anywhere you can name…So good that we had to stop there again on Tuesday for lunch on the way to the airport!! Fat Matt’s has been officially added to our “Must Visit” list. If only they’d ship them to CT…..

Perfectly cooked and sauced ribs, great ‘rum’ baked beans and slaw, ice cold beer and live blues….It doesn’t get much better than that!!!

One day we were watching pbs a television station in Houston Texas and they  were showing some of the best BBQ in this country and they mention Fat Matt.  He went on to say how good it was.  At that moment we decided that on our next trip to Atlanta we would try to find it.

Which brings me to the reason I'm sending you this e-mail.  We made it to Atlanta this week and went looking for Fat Matt.  We found the place just like the guy on the t.v. said it was a hole in the wall, but the BBQ was excellent the meat was just coming off the bone.  The service was also excellent,  employees were friendly and fast with our order.  The music was great and on the night we went(Sat.) there was this old mean woman playing the drums and singing (i say this in a very complimentary to the lady drummer---she is a mean drummer and not mean as a person).

But back to the BBQ it was soooooooooooo good that we plan to go back before we head back to Houston Texas.

My first visit was Tuesday, July 15 , 2006.  It is absolutely authentically cooked with that great smokehouse flavor.  As a matter of fact, I am going back today!

I have moved to Washington D.C. and began having withdrawals from Fat Matt's famous Bar-b-Que sauce!  I love the ribs and sauce soooooo much that I went and bought a case to stash away up here for my own Bar-b-Que cookouts!  The folks up here are amazed at the flavoring of your outstanding sauce!  Thanks Fat Matt's!  Now my ribs are all the rage too!

I’ve only been to Atlanta once and was lucky enough to get told about Fat Matt’s.  I’m hoping to get back again this year.  The whole experience is perfect.

The ribs were fantastic! Visited Atlanta last October and one of
our band members from Atlanta said this is the place to hit.

He was right...Fantastic!!

You have to realize that my "homies" and I view your establishment as
somewhat of a "Mecca" that we always visit when in town (yes it is ironic to
talk of Mecca and pork ribs in the same context). Several of us are rib
connoisseurs, and have yet to find any better than Fat Matt's. Our quest is
actually world wide between the 6-7 of us. Our most gluttonous time
occurred at a Braves game when we partook on Saturday after we flew into
town, Sunday before the game, and Sunday evening before our flight home.

Thanks again.

Hi, I have been eating at your place since about 1991. I now live in Florida. I fly to Atlanta every several months just to buy ribs. I package them up and put them in my suitcase and fly them back for all of my friends here in Florida. Everyone is addicted - of course.

Just wanted to let ya'll know that the ribs that I had yesterday, well they were the best ribs that I have ever eaten. They were cooked perfectly! The meat just fell off the bone. I'll be back to get more, when I install the electrical for the steam table next door at the chicken shack. There really should be a law against ribs that good!
